Paws & Pixie Dust: Rides Service Dogs Can and Can’t Do

You want your companion to join in on the magic for a day at the parks, and they can! Although there are some rides our sweet service dogs can’t go on due to safety, there are a lot they can. Here’s your ultimate list of what rides your service dog can and can’t go on.

Service dogs are required to remain positioned on the floor of the ride vehicle, away from the ride vehicle door. Guests with smaller service dogs may place their service dog on their lap or in a front-of-body carrier.

For the safety and well-being of your service dog, always use the Sensory Experience Details sign for each respective ride so you can get an idea of how the ride might affect your service dog. Although a ride might be safe in terms of how fast the attraction moves for your service dog, the attraction might still have loud noises, off-ground elements, elements of surprise, and bright lights, amongst other effects. Dogs can’t ride any attraction with a height requirement for safety.

If you are going to the parks alone with your service dog and would like to enjoy an attraction that your service dog isn’t allowed on, ask a cast member if there’s an option for a portable kennel for your service dog to remain in for the duration of the ride. A cast member will wait with your dog while you are on the ride.
