Taylor’s Sweetest Friendships
Taylor Swift is one of the friendliest and most compassionate celebrities, and everyone in the industry wants to be her friend. Taylor’s had high-profile friendships that have lasted decades, but she’s also had lasting friendships from her personal life before she was the world’s biggest pop star.
Ed Sheeran
This is one of Swift’s most well-known friendships. These two incredible lyricists met in 2012 when Taylor asked Ed to write with her for a song that would be on her 4th studio album, RED. They wrote two songs, Run and Everything Has Changed. The second song on the album and Run became a vault track when Taylor re-released RED in 2021, when her masters were stolen from her.
Taylor then asked Ed to open for her 150.2 million-dollar-grossing RED tour. Ed opened up for Taylor 66 dates on that tour, and the two became quick friends. As an end-of-tour prank, Ed dressed up as a clown during We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, the finale song for the RED tour, and became a backup dancer on stage.
Since then, the two have consistently worked together and have remained friends for over ten years. Ed appears in two of Taylor’s music videos (Everything Has Changed (RED) and End Game (reputation) which Ed is also a featured vocalist and writer on.
Taylor is featured on a song called The Joker and The Queen from Ed’s album =. Taylor jokes that she is also the reason Ed Sheeran married his now-wife, Cherry Seaborn.
Taylor told Ed to invite Cherry to her annual 4th of July parties at her $17.75 million Watch Hill, Rhode Island house, and you could say the rest is history. Most recently, Taylor invited Ed to perform with her during the surprise song slot on the Wembley Stadium stop in London on August 15th, 2024.
