The Eras Tour Gave Me Amnesia
Yup, you read that right. After attending Taylor Swift’s record-breaking tour, The Eras Tour, I got amnesia…but I’m not the only one. Fans took to social media to say that after attending the concert and waking up the next day, they could only remember parts of the show, not the whole experience.

The Eras Tour spanned over 21 months, beginning on March 17th, 2023, in Glendale, AZ, and ending on December 8th, 2024, in Vancouver, Canada. The tour consisted of 149 shows and travelled to 5 continents and 21 countries. The show featured a 40+ song setlist, and each show lasted over 3.5 hours.
It’s not totally uncommon to experience amnesia after a concert, so much so that it’s actually called “concert amnesia” or “joy blackouts”. This happens when the brain is under high stress or in an intense emotional state, and it is too present to form a memory of the experience.

Concert Amnesia is also linked to sensory overload, often brought on by lights, noises, and large crowds, and of course, The Eras Tour had all three of those things.
But don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds, and no, you won’t have to worry about recording an entire concert just so you won’t forget it. Your brain won’t forget that you attended a concert at all, but it won’t properly store each memory from the show. You will remember what counts, though!
I don’t remember each visual displayed on the screens.
I don’t remember how exactly Taylor transitioned from New Romantics to New Year’s Day during the surprise song portion of the show.
I don’t remember the transitions from era to era clearly.
And when I watched the Concert back, I got to see everything I'd forgotten, but there were a lot of things I do remember…
I remember going with one of my dear friends and screaming every single bridge.
I remember how beautiful the “seven” transition to Invisible String was and how it touched my heart so intricately.
I remember talking to strangers and feeling like they were my friends.
I remember trading 70+ bracelets and wishing I had made more.
I remember seeing Taylor appear for the first time and thinking that this had to be a dream, and there was no way I was standing at SoFi Stadium seeing The Eras Tour with my own eyes.
I remember Taylor announcing 1989 (Taylor’s version) and losing my mind with the girl sitting next to me (a complete stranger).
I remember walking out of the stadium with no voice, feet aching, sweaty as heck, and needing to go to the bathroom after holding it for 9 hours - but I was on cloud 9.

And it was kinda fun watching the concert back when it was released on Disney+ and thinking, “I don’t remember that” or “I totally forgot that”. The Eras Tour was electric and an absolute sensory overload in the best way possible - but I’d do it all over again, even if that means still getting concert amnesia.
