Opalite Music Video Review
The second single from Taylor’s twelfth studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” has officially been released as “Opalite”. The song has reached #2 on both the Billboard Global 200 Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100.
The song is inspired by Swift’s fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who announced his engagement to the singer on August 26th, 2025. The power couple is set to wed Summer of 2026.

Opalite expresses the happiness and clarity Taylor has discovered through her relationship with Travis Kelce and uses the metaphor of Travis’ birthstone, opalite, to describe the color of her sky, which was once stormy and the backdrop to her past loves. The music video creates a stunning visual for this light-hearted and fun love song.
The music video is far from anything I thought it would be (but haven’t we learned that Taylor always surprises us?) This definitely had me smiling and laughing the whole way through. Taylor’s humor and comedy are unmatched, and her music videos are the perfect portrayal of that.
Starring alongside Swift is Graham Norton (Host of the Graham Norton show), Cillian Murphey (actor and film producer), Domhall Gleeson (actor), Greta Lee (actress), Jodie Turner-Smith (actress), and Lewis Capaldi (singer), Austin Swift, Kameron Saunders (dancer), Karen Chuang (dancer), Jan Ravnik (dancer), Whyley Yoshimura (dancer), Sam McWilliams (dancer), and Raphael Thomas (dancer).

This may seem like a bizarre grouping of celebrities, but in Taylor Swift’s world, this actually makes perfect sense. All of these talented individuals were seated on the same couch as Taylor during her appearance on the Graham Norton show in November, which is shown at the end of the credits in the music video.
The music video starts off as an infomercial on how to turn your drab love life or “garbage” partner into the man (or woman) of your dreams with just one spray of Opalite. The video follows Taylor’s character, a lonely woman whose best friend is a rock, and Domhall Gleeson’s, a lonely man whose partner is a cactus. Ultimately, lonely woman and lonely man find each other, but not without the insane cameos from the talent listed above.

I didn’t really know what to expect going into the music idea, so I wasn’t disappointed, but from what Taylor and Taylor Nation had posted prior to this music video, I thought this would be more The Life of a Showgirl picturesque. I was excited to see the sparkly blue body suit that was shown in the promo but am really fond of this music video all in all.
